Dr. Jeff Johnson – Radical politics as one of the “main currents” in American history

Dr. Jeff Johnson of the Department of History and Classics discusses his teaching and research specialties, which include radicalism during the Progressive Era in the American West. He also shares insights about the scholarly research process, and his involvement in a national program meant to provide K-12 teachers with access to new knowledge as it is being discovered by academic researchers.

Johnson, who spent much of his youth in Wyoming and attended college in Montana, also discusses issues related to the mythology of the Old West, and talks about his favorite Western movie — and a chance meeting with Friar legend Kris Dunn ’16 in Chicago.
