The Board of Programmers is proud to bring Michael Brown Senior to campus on Tuesday, February 19th at 6:30pm in ’64 Hall.

Michael Brown, Jr., an African-American male, was just eighteen years old when he was shot and killed by white police officer Darren Wilson in Ferguson, MO on August 9th, 2014. The unorthodox murder and disputed circumstances of the shooting of Mike Brown Jr. sparked strong protest from The Black Lives Matter Movement and its surrounding community.

His father, Michael Brown Sr., has made it his mission to use his painful experience as a way to educate about of the horrors of police brutality. Michael Brown Sr. will be coming to Providence College to share the experience of his son’s death and reveal who he was beyond the negative images that were commonly portrayed in the media. Additionally, he will be discussing the organization, “Chosen for Change,” which he began to demonstrate to the youth to embrace one another, while also teaching them valuable success skills and how to respects themselves and others.
