“This voice did not come for my sake but for yours. Now is the time of judgment on this world; now the ruler of this world will be driven out. And when I am lifted up from the earth, I will draw everyone to myself” (John 12:30-32)
As we come to the final days of our Lenten season, the Gospel of John helps to prepare us for Christ’s saving grace in Easter. Here, Jesus provides us with hope of salvation in his words, which foreshadow the death that He will endure. Not only will He die for our sins and suffer as we have through His humanity, but He will rise again in salvation to save humanity from our sin, in His divinity. As He remarks, He has not come for His sake, but for ours. He does all this for us, through the love of the Father, to save His beloved people, to give us hope in eternal life with Him.
