After months of planning, the day finally arrived. Our group of Providence College students woke up at 3am to begin a long day of travel down to Port au Prince, Haiti. Set to serve at Louverture Cleary School, the excitement of the group was palpable.
The morning’s travel went off without a hitch. Until we landed in Miami. It was there that we learned that our connecting flight had been cancelled. We would be forced to have a little layover . . . OF TWO DAYS.
Unable to get rebooked until Wednesday, we’re staying at an Extended Stay Hotel and about to feast on a taco dinner. We’re working with the Missionaries of Charity in the morning. We’ll make the best our time here, in spite of frustrations.
